Alasdair Gold reports Spurs are considering an upgrade to their stadium

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham are constantly assessing potential upgrades to their stadium, with the club currently said to be looking into making improvements in the retractable pitch.

It has been over three and a half years since the opening of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the venue is undoubtedly now considered one of the best football stadiums in the country.

Apart from football, the 62,850-capacity venue has also been used to host concerts, rugby, fights and many other events.

Spurs also have an agreement to host two NFL matches per season at their ground, with some even suggesting that it could be the home of a future London-based NFL franchise.

Most of the events apart from football are held on the synthetic turf, which sits underneath the retractable football pitch.

Gold has now revealed that Tottenham are looking into ways to make speed up the hydraulic pitch retracting system so they could host NFL and Premier League double headers on the same day.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “I know they will constantly be looking to improve it. That’s the point of the stadium that you can constantly do that.

“There has been talk about improving the system with the pitch that takes it all off, the hydraulic system that takes it off. That can be improved to be faster, because I think the dream for Spurs is to have an NFL-Football doubleheader, just making that a quicker system.”

Modern stadiums are often designed such that there is plenty of room for constant improvements and upgrades. I suspect that the capacity of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will also be steadily increased by a few hundred extra seats every couple of years.
