Alasdair Gold reports that Tottenham ‘love’ one Premier League defender

Alasdair Gold has revealed that the Tottenham hierarchy ‘love’ Marc Guehi and continue to hold a ‘massive interest’ in the Crystal Palace centre-back.

Guehi has developed into one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League since swapping Chelsea for Palace two years ago.

The 22-year-old featured for England in their 4-0 win over Malta last week and it could only be a matter of time before he establishes himself as a regular in Gareth Southgate’s starting eleven.

It was reported by Football Transfers last month that Guehi is one of the centre-backs on Tottenham’s radar this summer, with the report alleging that the Palace star fits the profile of defender that the Lilywhites are after.

Tottenham’s interest in the former Chelsea man was also backed up by GiveMeSport last week but the outlet asserted that Ange Postecoglou’s men could face competition from Arsenal for the player.

Tottenham love Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi

Gold has now explained that Guehi is one of the centre-backs that Tottenham like the most but explained that the player also has plenty of other suitors.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “I know, and I’ve reported this before, and I know this is very much still the case. They love Marc Guehi. The Crystal Palace and England defender, he’s only 22, he’s a terrific player and he’s had a terrific season too.

“From what I understand Spurs still have a massive interest in him, they really like him, but the problem is that so do most of the top clubs in England.”

Guehi is likely to cost upward of £50m this summer since he still has three years left on his contract at Selhurst Park.

However, there is no doubt that it would be money well spent as the 22-year-old can be the leader of our backline for the best part of a decade and is also homegrown.
