Alasdair Gold reports that Tottenham player has suffered a hip injury

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Pape Matar Sarr is currently suffering from a hip injury.

After watching on from the sidelines for the entirety of the first part of the season, Sarr has been handed a few opportunities since the campaign’s restart and the midfielder has grabbed them with both hands.

Reports over recent weeks have indicated that despite the midfielder attracting interest from clubs around Europe, Antonio Conte has decided not to loan him out this window (Sky Sport Italia via TEAMtalk).

Some Tottenham fans might have wondered whether Pape Matar Sarr’s absence from the matchday squads for the clash against Fulham last Monday and the FA Cup match against Preston North End was a sign that the Senegal international would leave on loan before this evening’s transfer deadline.

However, Gold has now revealed that the former Metz player missed those two matches due to a hip injury, and is expected to be back in action early next month.

The fact that Conte started Sarr ahead of Bissouma and Skipp in the North London derby, shows just how highly the Italian rates the 20-year-old.

However, I cannot help but feel that Tottenham may have missed an opportunity to loan the midfielder out to a Premier League club this month. That would have done his development a world of good and he would have returned to the club in the summer as close to a finished product.
