Alasdair Gold reports what he has heard about Spurs interest in Trossard

Amidst reports linking Leandro Trossard with a move to Tottenham, Alasdair Gold has revealed the winger is being ‘offered around’ during the current transfer window.

Tottenham’s interest in Trossard first came to light in the early hours of Monday morning when The Daily Mail claimed that the winger’s impressive form this season had caught the North London club’s eye.

The report added that ‘multiple’ other Premier League clubs are also monitoring the 28-year-old, with Chelsea said to be ‘sniffing’ around at the winger’s availability.

Football Insider claimed later on the same day that Spurs had already submitted a verbal offer for the Belgian international but revealed that it had been knocked back by Brighton, who have no intention of selling the player this month.

Gold has now revealed that the former Genk man is being offered to various clubs but questioned whether the winger would be content with a bit-part role at Tottenham.

When asked about Spurs’ rumoured interest in Trossard, the journalist said on a Q&A in Football.London: “Trossard is an interesting one. It seems that he’s being offered around in an attempt to get him a move away from Brighton.

“The 28-year-old wouldn’t be a normal Spurs profile signing but as a Conte ready-made Premier League player he ticks a few boxes, while he won’t cost a fortune even if Brighton have reportedly activated an extra 12 months on his deal which was set to end this summer.

“He’s versatile either down the left or centrally in attack and has an end product in front of goal, with seven goals and two assists in 16 Premier League matches this season.

“If Trossard is after regular starts though he may not find it at Tottenham, competing with Son and Richarlison mainly and also Perisic for a place on the left. It’s one to keep an eye on but there’s going to be a lot of players offered by agents to Spurs in the next three weeks.”

It is not clear from Gold’s statement if is Brighton who are offering Trossard around to other clubs or if it is the player’s representatives who are doing so. Either way, he could be a tempting option for Conte, given his versatility and the fact that he has plenty of Premier League experience under his belt.
