Alasdair Gold reports what he has heard about Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie

Alasdair Gold has revealed that the feeling at Tottenham is that Destiny Udogie needs to improve the defensive side of his game.

Tottenham might be set for big changes at left-back this summer, with Dan Kilpatrick revealing in his recent column on The Evening Standard that Ivan Perisic might be on his way since he was an Antonio Conte signing.

The journalist revealed that Spurs could also decide to cut their losses on Ryan Sessegnon on the back of another injury-hit season and might decide to enter the market for a new left-back.

Meanwhile, it appears as if Ben Davies’ days at the club also be numbered, with Football Insider reporting earlier this week that Tottenham are prepared to listen to offers for the Welshman.

The publication added that the Lilywhites might decide to move on the former Swansea man if they receive an offer of around £15m for him.

Spurs will be boosted by the return of Udogie from his loan spell at Udinese and Gold believes that although the Italian has to improve the defensive side of his game, he is capable of playing in a back four.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “Don’t forget Destiny Udogie is coming in as well.

“He is another one, like Porro, we are going to have to see, if someone plays a back four, can he play as a left-back? My thinking is that he probably can.

“One thing I have seen coaches say is that one thing he does have to improve on is his defending.

“But I do think maybe slightly less of the flying wingback that Porro is, maybe he is somewhere in between, so it might be easier for him to become that left-back rather than become a left-winger. So add him to the mix as well.”

I feel Udogie can fit in quite well into Postecoglou’s set-up if the Celtic boss does get the job as he likes to play with underlapping full-backs.

That is also a role that I can see Davies doing decently. However, it looks like Porro would have to be used as a winger rather than as a part of a back four.
