Alasdair Gold describes Conte’s bad mood on Monday after NLD loss

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Antonio Conte looked upset during his press conference on Monday after his side fell to a 3-1 loss against Arsenal a couple of days ago.

Tottenham’s defeat in the North London derby was their first loss of the Premier League season so far, with the Lilywhites not being helped by the fact that they were reduced to ten men just after the hour mark.

Gold explained that it is not entirely unusual for Conte to be in a bad mood in the wake of a big defeat, with the Italian usually known to vent after a painful loss.

However, the 53-year-old is usually fine by the time his next pre-match press conference rolls around and is known to strike a ‘more clinical tone’.

Gold revealed that was not the case on Monday as Conte was not in the best of moods while undertaking his media duties at Deutsche Bank Park.

The journalist revealed that the Italian is usually quite affable and would greet the UK media with a ‘hello’ and a smile as they place their recording devices in front of him, but on Monday, the Spurs boss did not even glance at them.

Gold asserted that Conte seemed ‘almost robotic’ throughout the whole of the press conference, and never once smiled throughout the event.

The journalist ended his article by writing: ‘And then it was all over. Normally when he leaves these press conferences, the Italian will put a hand up and say goodbye to those in the room with the regular as clockwork phrase “thank you very much”.

‘Not this time, just a determination to get out of the room and what seemed like a quick glare in the direction of football.london before he stood up to do so. The price of annoying Antonio Conte.’

It seems like Conte still has not recovered from the painful defeat against Arsenal on Saturday, which is understandable, given the standards he sets and the type of character the Italian is. Thankfully, the team has a chance to put things right, given the quick turnaround.
