Alasdair Gold reveals Destiny Udogie deal for Spurs is cheaper than first thought

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Destiny Udogie is currently undergoing his medical at Hotspur Way ahead of sealing his move to Tottenham.

It was reported last week that Tottenham had agreed on a fee of €20m (£16.8m) with Udinese for Udogie and that the left-back would return to the Serie A club on loan for the 2022/23 campaign (Fabrizio Romano).

The 19-year-old, who hit the limelight with his marauding displays from left wing-back last season, has admitted that he is excited about the opportunity to work with Antonio Conte (TMW).

The Evening Standard reported over the weekend that the Italy Under-21 international will stay at Hotspur Way overnight on Sunday before sealing his move to Spurs today.

Gold has now confirmed that Udogie is undergoing his medical at Tottenham before putting pen to paper on a contract with the North London club.

The journalist also revealed that the Spurs will pay an initial £15m to Udinese for the left-back and that the fee could rise to £18m including add-ons.

Gold said in a tweet that the ‘transfer fee is less with add-ons than previously reported as well’. Football London originally believed the fee was around £22m including add-ons.

Spurs Web Opinion

This looks like an astute piece of business by Spurs as Udogie’s value could rise substantially if he has another good season at Udinese and break his way into Roberto Mancini’s plans with the Italian national team.

Fabio Paratici firmly has his finger on the pulse with talent in Italy as we have seen with the arrivals of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur which helped to transform Tottenham’s fortunes last season.
