Alasdair Gold reveals Fonseca camp noted ‘big difference’ between Levy and Paratici

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that sources inside Paulo Fonseca’s camp have noted a big difference in the style of football demanded by Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici.

Fonseca seemed certain to be the next Tottenham head coach until Thursday but Spurs reportedly pulled out of talks with the former Roma man to pursue Gennaro Gattuso instead.

There was a massive backlash from some Tottenham fans on social media to the news of Gattuso’s impending appointment.

The backlash was reportedly the reason behind why the North London club decided to call off their move for Gattuso, thus leaving them back at square one in their managerial pursuit.

Gold has now explained the circumstances which led to the collapse in talks with Fonseca. The journalist revealed that the former Roma boss held talks with Tottenham’s new managing director of football, Paratici, in both Milan and Como before flying to Ukraine.

The 48-year-old was said to be bewildered by Spurs’ sudden U-turn on Wednesday after the contracts had been agreed.

Gold also revealed that there are suggestions from Fonseca’s camp that while Levy wanted the team to play expansive football, Paratici sought a more conservative approach.

However, the journalist also stated that some within Tottenham have indicated that the club’s face-to-face talks with Fonseca did not go well, with the Spurs hierarchy not being convinced by the Portuguese coach’s vision.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It’s more than a little worrying if Levy and Paratici are already not on the same page. I assumed that Paratici would have been hired to either take control on his own or because his views aligned with Levy’s.
