Alasdair Gold has revealed that Alessandro Bastoni is Tottenham’s top centre-back target ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bastoni, who Conte worked with at Inter, has really come of age over the last couple of years and he admitted last month that he owes a lot of his development to the Spurs boss (Football Italia).

Corriere Dello Sport reported earlier this week that Tottenham were leading the race to sign the Italy international, with the North London club ‘ready to throw themselves’ at the centre-back.

The report added Inter could demand around €60m-€70m (£50.7m-£59.1m) for the 23-year-old this summer, given that Spurs paid €55m (£46.4m) including add-ons to sign Cristian Romero from Atalanta last summer.

Gold has now said on his YouTube channel (starting at 10:07) that while Paratici has a long list of options for the left centre-back role, he is “pretty sure” from what he was hearing that Bastoni is the “one they want to go for”.

However, the journalist explained that a deal for the Inter star will be “difficult” as Simone Inzaghi’s side are demanding “big money” for the centre-back despite him having just two years left on his contract.

We know that Inter have to sell one or two of their assets this summer to balance their books. So, they are not in a position to charge a ransom for Bastoni, given that he only has two years left on his deal.

Given what we know about the way Paratici operates, the Spurs managing director will probably move on to the likes of Torres or Gvardiol if he feels Inter’s asking price for the 23-year-old is unrealistic.
