Alasdair Gold reveals how behind-the-scenes talks between Paratici and Kane transpired

Alasdair Gold has revealed on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast that Fabio Paratici held talks with Harry Kane, to persuade the striker to stay at the club this summer.

Kane put potential suitors on red alert at the conclusion of last season, stating his desires to leave north London after another disappointing campaign for the club.

Spurs limped over the line to a seventh place finish in the Premier League, were knocked out of the Europa League in horrible fashion and lost in the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City.

Ironically, City emerged as the favourites for Kane’s signature but failed to land the 28-year-old this summer after multiple attempts to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.

It has been previously reported that Spurs’ director of football Paratici spoke to Kane and held positive talks with him before confirming his intentions to stay in N17 this season.

Speaking on the turbulent summer in the Spurs camp, Gold said on the podcast: “With Harry Kane, you have that guarantee how incredible he is. And if he says he will be fully focused on this season ahead, he will be.

“And I keep hearing that his talks with Paratici and Nuno [Espirito Santo] have been really, really positive; really good.

“They feel that he’s very much back – not to say he wasn’t in the first place, but very much is fully focused on the Nuno idea and what’s going to happen.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This will be positive news for the Spurs fans that are finding it hard to believe Kane when he stated his commitment to Spurs last month. There is a lingering feeling which makes it awkward, considering he made it clear he wanted out of the club, but there is no doubt he will knuckle down for the season ahead, and get back to what he does best.
