Alasdair Gold reveals how Tottenham’s training sessions have been different recently

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham’s training sessions were ‘slightly more relaxed’ leading up to the clash against AS Roma.

Antonio Conte and his coaching staff have worked the players extremely hard during pre-season, with the Spurs squad reportedly being made to run 42 pitch lengths after two hours of training in the 30-degree heat of Seoul earlier this month (Daily Mail).

The hard work has continued at Hotspur Way since the squad returned from Asia, with a video of the team’s training session this week showing the players performing a unique drill.

The drill involved the players sprinting around 100 meters to change pitches every few minutes while playing a five-a-side game.

However, Gold revealed that the intensity of the training sessions reduced over recent days, with the squad doing just one session per day instead of double sessions.

It is not surprising that the intensity of the sessions are being tuned down as we get closer to the start of the season as Conte will want the players to be at 100 per cent heading into the Southampton clash.
