Alasdair Gold reveals if Spurs will make another attempt to sign Tomiyasu

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will look to sign a right-back before the transfer window shuts if they manage to move on Serge Aurier.

Fabio Paratici has had a successful first transfer window at Spurs, not only in terms of incomings but also managing to clear out a lot of the deadwood.

The likes of Paulo Gazzaniga, Danny Rose, Joe Hart, Erik Lamela, Toby Alderweirled and Moussa Sissoko have left the club but one player who the club have not managed to get out of the door is Aurier.

The right-back has been linked with a move to AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain this summer but neither transfer materialised.

It was reported earlier this week that Lille could target Aurier if Zeki Celik joins Atletico Madrid but the right-back seemed to rule out a move to Lille with his latest social media post.

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke revealed on Friday that Tottenham could not have tried harder to sell the 28-year-old this summer.

Gold has now said that a new right-back is still on Paratici’s and Nuno Espirito Santo’s wishlist if Aurier does leave the club.

The journalist added that Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu remains at the top of the North London club’s wishlist due to his ability to play as a centre-back and a right-back.

Aurier might not be pushing for a move as he knows that he could probably get a sizable singing-on fee and a better salary if he signs with a club as a free agent next summer.

So, the onus is clearly on Spurs to find a suitable buyer. I am not convinced that it is something we will manage in the few days that are left in the transfer window.
