Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that there is no truth to reports suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign Angel Di Maria in the summer.
L’Equipe claimed yesterday that Tottenham were looking to sign Di Maria when his contract with PSG runs out in the summer and have made contact with the player’s entourage over a possible move to North London.
The report claimed that although the Ligue 1 side are keen to hang on to the winger, the Argentine had rejected the club’s proposed cut to his current wage of £220,000 per week.
However, Gold has now revealed that Di Maria is not a player who has been discussed as a potential signing by Spurs.
The journalist also added that Tottenham will try to overhaul the squad in the summer to bring more balance Jose Mourinho’s playing staff and the Portuguese will work with what he has got until the end of the window, with no new incomings likely before the January transfer window slams shut.

It makes sense that Tottenham will be looking at players who will be out of contract in the summer or those whose deals run out in the summer of 2020, given that the club is not in a position to spend big. However, it seems unlikely that Mourinho and the recruitment team would have already had advanced discussions about potential summer targets.
