Alasdair Gold reveals injured Spurs star is now finally set to return to training

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Ryan Sessegnon is now on the verge of returning to group training.

Sessegnon’s hopes of impressing Ange Postecoglou were dashed in the summer when he picked up a hamstring injury at the start of pre-season.

That has meant that the Australian has not had a chance to take a closer look at the 23-year-old just yet but that might be about to change very soon.

A little over a week ago, Tottenham posted a video on Instagram of the left-back training on his own on the Hotspur Way pitches as he stepped up his recovery.

The former Fulham man was seen doing some sprints and some simple drills with the ball and he appeared to be moving quite well.

Ryan Sessegnon is very close to return to training

Gold has now revealed that the youngster is expected to start training with his teammates before the end of this month.

The journalist said on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast: “Ryan Sessegnon is set to kind of return to group training in the not-too-distant future, in the next week or two.”

The likes of Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic remain sidelined with injuries while Yves Bissouma is currently serving a suspension.

Additionally, Giovani Lo Celso is also currently out of action with a minor injury and he remains a doubt for Tottenham’s upcoming clash against Everton (The Standard).

Spurs Web Opinion

While this is fantastic news for Sessegnon, I do not think the 23-year-old is likely to get any opportunities at Spurs as he is not a particularly good fit for Postecoglou’s system. I expect Tottenham to loan out the left-back in next month’s transfer window.
