Alasdair Gold reveals Kane is not only Spurs star to be left out of Portugal squad

Football London journalist, Alasdair Gold has revealed that Harry Kane was not alone in being left out of the Tottenham squad travelling to Portugal today.

Spurs flew out ahead of their opening Conference League match against Paços de Ferreira tomorrow, with the second leg to be held in North London a week after.

Gold claimed that both Dele Alli and Steven Begwijn had remained in a smaller group still training at Hotspur Way today. He ended his tweet by saying Nuno could field an ‘interesting team’ tomorrow.

This comes after reports that Harry Kane did not travel with the main squad to Portugal and instead remained in North London to train. However, it was also mentioned that Kane hopes to be fit enough to play against Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday.

Tottenham put in a monumental first-weekend effort against Man City to come away with a win on Sunday, with Dele and Bergwijn particularly exerting themselves.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be surprised if more than one or two players started the game in Portugal after also starting against Man City. I think Nuno will take the chance to look at some fringe players instead against lesser opposition.
