Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Antonio Conte believes Ivan Perisic will be a ‘crucial cog’ in improving the mentality of the Tottenham squad.
Perisic is expected to complete his move to Tottenham this week, with Dan Kilpatrick confirming he flew to London and stayed at Hotspur Way last night ahead of his medical today.
Gold has now backed up this claim, stating that the 33-year-old is expected to pen a two-year deal worth £98,000 a week with Spurs after informing Inter Milan that he does not plan on remaining at the San Siro.
The journalist explains that Conte believes Perisic can help improve the mentality of the Spurs squad during the big moments next season.
The Inter star is said to be a ‘firm believer’ in the Tottenham head coach’s coaching methods after their experience together at the Nerazzurri.
Additionally, Gold reveals that Conte and Fabio Paratici both believe that Perisic can help mentor Ryan Sessegnon to develop into a top wing-back, with both players expected to get plenty of game time next season.
Gold asserts that the Tottenham head coach has high hopes for Sessegnon over the coming years.

One would hope that Sessegnon would mature into a top left wing-back over the next couple of years and take over the duties from Perisic when the Croat leaves.
If Conte did not have faith in Sessegnon, he might have decided to pursue someone younger like Filip Kostic or Yannick Carrasco rather than the Inter star.
