Alasdair Gold reveals number of Spurs players ‘would back’ move for 45-year-old manager

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Graham Potter would be a popular choice to replace Jose Mourinho among the Tottenham Hotspur squad.

A whole host of names have been linked with Spurs job over the last couple of weeks and Gold has now shared what his thoughts are about candidates being floated in the media.

Brendan Rodgers is said to be the North London club’s first-choice but there are doubts over whether the former Liverpool boss would abandon his project at Leicester.

Gold reveals that there are concerns over Massimiliano Allegri’s grasp of the English language and while Scott Parker has admirers at the club, the Fulham boss is seen as one for the future.

He adds that Tottenham have been impressed by the style of play Potter has implemented at the Amex Stadium but there are concerns over the Brighton boss’ lack of experience at a big club.

Gold suggests that the Seagulls’ style of play had left a lasting impression on a number of Spurs players, who ‘would back‘ a move for Potter.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Potter would be a risky choice due to his lack of experience managing big egos, I believe he is also the candidate with potentially the highest ceiling among the aforementioned names. One does get the feeling from the way Potter sets Brighton up that he could reach a different level with better players under his disposal. He also comes across as an extremely level-headed and mature person in his interviews and someone who is capable of earning the players’ respect.
