Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that the Tottenham players have been pleased with how transparent Nuno Espirito Santo has been during his talks with them.

Tottenham certainly dragged their heels in appointing a new head coach during the summer and when Nuno was eventually confirmed as the boss, it certainly did not inspire a lot of excitement among the fan base.

However, based on the ovation he received at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the club’s season-opener against City, the Portuguese coach seems to have won over some of his doubters.

The 48-year-old could have not hoped for a better start to his Tottenham career as his side deservedly turned over the Premier League champions 1-0.

Alasdair Gold has now revealed the Tottenham players have found Nuno to be honest in their interactions with him thus far, something that they appreciate.

The journalist also revealed that Nuno has a mentality of ‘get on board or get left behind’, similar to Pochettino during his early time in North London.

Gold also notes that the former Wolves boss, like Pochettino, puts a lot of emphasis on the team’s high fitness levels.

Spurs fans will be hoping that Nuno can have a similar galvanising effect on the club when compared to what the Argentine achieved when he arrived through the door in 2015.

It is worth remembering that just like Nuno this summer, Pochettino was not a popular choice among Spurs fans back in 2015, with many preferring Louis van Gaal over the Argentine.

We also have to remember that it took Poch a season to get the bad apples out and implement his ideas. Nuno also has to be afforded the season before we can judge him.
