Alasdair Gold reveals positive update for Ryan Sessegnon after injury

Alasdair Gold has explained that Ryan Sessegnon’s surgery on his right hamstring has been a success and that the chances of the injury reoccurring are quite slim.

Sessegnon’s career has been blighted by a series of injuries, which has prevented the left-back from fulfilling his potential since his switch to Tottenham in 2019.

The 23-year-old suffered a hamstring injury on his left leg at the start of pre-season, which meant that he was unable to impress manager Ange Postecoglou and the rest of the Tottenham coaching staff following their appointment.

Just when he finally thought he had a chance to do so after recovering from the injury, disaster struck for the former Fulham man, who suffered the same injury recently in action for the U23’s against West Ham, this time on his right leg.

Ryan Sessegnon’s recovery period is around 10-12 weeks

Sessegnon was understandably been devastated by the news but Gold has now taken to social media to reveal that the situation is not as bad as initially feared.

The journalist stated that the recovery period is expected to be quicker this time, with the Sessegnon expected to be sidelined for around 10 to 12 weeks.

Gold also explained that the chances of the injury reoccurring are quite slim, now that he has had the same operation on his right leg as he did on his other leg last summer.

He took to X to say: “Understand Ryan Sessegnon’s surgery on his right hamstring was a success and as with the op on his left hamstring last year the chances of a reoccurrence will now be very slim. Quicker recovery period this time of 10-12 weeks. He’s only 23 and got so much of his career to go.”

The fact that Ryan Sessegnon has just recently recovered from the same problem should hopefully make the rehabilitation a lot simpler this time around.

However, the challenges for the 23-year-old would be mental as it would be devastating to face another three months on the sidelines, given how hard he worked to get back to fitness.
