Alasdair Gold reveals Postecoglou’s two priority positions for Spurs transfer window

There may still be six games to go this season, but Alasdair Gold is already looking ahead to the next transfer window, and has revealed Ange Postecoglou is making the acquisition of a new striker and a new number 6 his priorities for the summer.

In the wake of Tottenham‘s miserable defeat to Newcastle on Saturday afternoon, it’s not surprising that many fans are thinking about ways to upgrade the Spurs squad as soon as possible.

It is thought Ange Postecoglou is keen to bring in new players in a number of positions when the summer window opens.

What players do Spurs need to sign next?

Now, thanks to Alasdair Gold, we have a good idea of which areas of the squad will be top priority for Postecoglou at the end of the season. In Gold’s latest YouTube video, he claims Spurs will be looking for a new striker, and a number 6 midfielder to boost their ranks.

Gold discusses the idea of Spurs keeping hold of Timo Werner, and suggests it may not be the way to go. That’s because Gold envisions Tottenham bringing in a new “central striker,” and that would mean Heung-min Son reverts back to the left wing, thus making Werner slightly redundant.

He also discusses the attacking returns, particularly goals, from the Spurs squad, and insists the likes of Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski have to deliver more. Meanwhile, Richarlison’s injury issues have made him less reliable despite a good return of goals this year.

And, as has long been suspected, Tottenham will be looking to add an accomplished number 6 to their roster, Gold confirms.

Son has done a magnificent job of providing goals this year, but a central striker he is not, mainly due to his lack of physicality. If we can get someone to compete with Richarlison in that role, we will become a far more dangerous proposition.
