Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that despite attracting plenty of loan interest, Bryan Gil was not keen on leaving Hotspur Way during the January window.
Many expected Gil to seal a loan move away from Hotspur Way in the final few days of the transfer window, with the arrival of Timo Werner seemingly pushing the winger further down the pecking order.
The fact that Ange Postecoglou turned to Jamie Donley off the bench against Brentford before the Spaniard was not a promising sign for the 22-year-old.
It was widely reported during the last few days of the window that Brighton were locked in talks with Spurs over signing Gil on loan (Daily Mail), with some sources even suggesting that the Seagulls could potentially hammer out a permanent deal for the former Sevilla man (Dean Jones – GiveMeSport).

Gil wanted to stay at Tottenham under Postecoglou
To some people’s surprise, the winger ended up staying put at Hotspur Way and Gold has now shed light on why that was the case.
The journalist revealed that the Spain international drew the attention of plenty of teams across the continent, including Roberto De Zerbi’s men.
However, according to Gold, Gil was never particularly keen on leaving Tottenham as he is enjoying his football under Ange Postecoglou.

It sounds like Gil believes that he can prove his value to Postecoglou and force himself into the Australian’s plans. However, the chances of that happening appear quite slim, particularly given the start that Timo Werner has made to his Tottenham career.
