Football.London’s Rob Guest has revealed that despite reports to the contrary, Tottenham Hotspur are not close to completing a deal for Clement Lenglet.
Reports over the past few days have indicated that Lenglet looks set to be Tottenham’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
Sport claimed on Tuesday that the centre-back had travelled to London to have a medical ahead of sealing a loan move to the Lilywhites.
It was suggested that Spurs had agreed to cover 85 per cent of the Frenchman’s wages during his loan spell and that the North London club have the option to sign the player permanently for €10m (£8.5m).
However, Guest has now poured cold water on the report, insisting that Spurs still have some work to do to get the Lenglet signing over the line.
The journalist stated that while Tottenham have held talks over signing the former Sevilla man on loan, the move is ‘not close to completion just yet’.

If an agreement between Spurs and Barcelona is not close, then one would not expect Lenglet to have travelled to London for his medical.
It seems like we might have to wait another couple of days for this deal to be finalised but I remain confident that we will get it done before the squad flies out to South Korea on Saturday.
