Alasdair Gold reveals Spurs face Premier League competition for 24-year-old target

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that other Premier League clubs could challenge Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Atalanta midfielder Ederson this summer.

Ederson has been one of the standout midfielders in the Serie A this season, with the Brazilian having taken his game to the next level this season, having become one of the first names in Gian Piero Gasperini’s teamsheet.

The 24-year-old is now being backed to make a big move in the summer, with GiveMeSport suggesting last week that the Lilywhites have identified him as an alternative to Conor Gallagher, who remains their top midfield target.

Just a couple of days ago, Marca claimed that Atletico Madrid are also keen on signing the Atalanta star but they are wary of competition from Spurs.

Spurs have Premier League competition for Ederson

Gold has now become the latest journalist to report on Tottenham’s interest in Ederson but he suggests that they are not the only English side with an eye on the midfielder.

He reveals that a number of Premier League clubs are now keeping an eye on the former Salernitana man before the transfer window opens in June.

Finally, Gold also names Ederson’s Atalanta teammate Teun Koopmeiners, and Wolves’ Joao Gomes as two other midfielders mooted as potential targets for Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ederson has the attributes necessary to succeed in England, which is why it is not surprising that a number of Premier League sides are eyeing the 24-year-old. However, I cannot see Atalanta selling both the Brazilian as well as Koopmeiners even if they miss out on Champions League qualification.
