Alasdair Gold reveals Spurs had head turned by Gattuso – Fonseca camp ‘bewildered’

Alasdair Gold has now revealed that Tottenham have had their heads turned by Gennaro Gattuso despite holding extensive talks with Paulo Fonseca.

The Football London journalist has claimed that Spurs were sorting stuff for Fonseca’s VISA even yesterday and Paratici had meetings with the Portuguese manager over the past week to discuss plans for the season.

However, when Gattuso left Fiorentina, Tottenham switched their attentions to the former AC Milan man, leaving Fonseca’s team ‘bewildered’.

It is said that Gattuso was Paratici’s preferred choice and he even wanted him at Juventus, but he was in a job when the sporting director arrived in North London, so Fonseca was chosen.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed this evening that the Fonseca deal had collapsed due to financial reasons, but Gold has seemingly now hinted towards an active tactical choice from the Spurs hierarchy.

Gattuso was in the Fiorentina job for just 23 days before parting ways and Sky Italia have since claimed that he is now an option for Tottenham.
