Alasdair Gold reveals Spurs have decided on top candidate and will test Levy’s financial resolve

Alasdair Gold has revealed this evening that it is his understanding that Tottenham Hotspur hope to appoint a new head coach in the next 7-10 days.

Tottenham have been searching for a replacement since Daniel Levy decided to part company with Jose Mourinho with the club having dropped to seventh place after topping the table in November and also suffering Europa League humiliation at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb.

Gold claimed that the North Londoners have decided on their top candidate and the ten-day appointment timeline is dependent on whether the club can reach an agreement with their current employer.

It is said that whether the two parties can reach an agreement will test Tottenham’s financial resolve in their bid to land their next head coach.

A number of individuals have been linked with the vacancy in N17 including Erik ten Hag, Graham Potter, Gareth Southgate and Brendan Rodgers (Evening Standard).

Gold said in his piece for Football.London: “football.london understands that the club have now decided on their top candidate and hope to appoint them within the next 10 days if they can come to an agreement with the candidate’s current employers.

“That is not understood to be an easy undertaking and it will test Tottenham’s financial resolve.

“With many questioning the ambition of the north London club, not least with the recent Kane talk, this could be a big moment for Levy to show that the future success of the club on the pitch is at the forefront of his mind.”
