Alasdair Gold reveals Spurs transfer update on Bryan Gil ahead of January

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham will allow Bryan Gil to leave on loan during the January transfer window, provided they can bring in another winger who can play on the right.

Gil has not made a single start for Tottenham so far this season, despite the injuries that the North London club have had in their forward line (Transfermarkt).

However, the Spaniard has shown glimpses of his quality off the bench over recent weeks, including in Tottenham’s Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon and Marseille, and their Premier League clash against Bournemouth.

The Evening Standard reported a few days ago that Tottenham are expected to loan the 21-year-old out in January, with Conte said to have demanded a direct replacement for the Spaniard.

However, this has been contradicted by journalist Dean Jones, who recently told GiveMeSport that the former Sevilla man could stay at Spurs as he offers something different to the club’s other attacking options.

Gold has now revealed that Tottenham are open to loaning out Gil in January but would only do so if they can sign a backup to Dejan Kulusevski.

The Football.London journalist said on his YouTube channel (starting at 58:04): “From what I understand, they will allow him [Gil] to go out on loan if they can get a perfect kind of alternative player who is more of a direct alternative to Kulusevski.”

Tottenham would have likely allowed Gil to leave on loan in the summer if they had been able to sign a replacement. So, it is unsurprising that their stance has not changed. I believe it would be in the club’s best interest for the 21-year-old to get regular minutes under his belt so that he can continue his development.
