Alasdair Gold reveals Spurs will continue to look at ‘attacking midfielders and strikers’

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham will continue to look for ‘opportunities’ to sign attacking midfielders and strikers in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Tottenham have been linked with several attacking players over recent weeks including the likes of Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo (Calciomeracato), Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta (L’Equipe) and Leicester City’s James Maddison (GiveMeSport).

Antonio Conte was asked last week if he wants to sign another forward in order to have two players for each of the three forward areas, but the Italian suggested that Bryan Gil’s return from his loan spell at Valencia has given him an additional option (Spurs official).

However, Gold has now suggested that Gil could potentially push to leave the club this summer in search of regular game time.

The journalist added that Conte needs to make a decision on the Spaniard’s future and if the winger does leave on loan, the North London club will explore opportunities to sign attacking midfielders and forwards.

He wrote: ‘Opportunities for attacking midfielders and strikers will continue to be explored in the final weeks of the window with a decision to be made over Bryan Gil.’

I do believe Gil will be loaned out as the 21-year-old would want to play regularly to give himself a shot of making it into Spain’s squad for the World Cup. So, there is a good chance that we do end up signing another attacking player. However, I would be surprised if it is big-money addition like Maddison or Zaniolo.
