Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur aim to make further top-class additions to their forward line this summer after extending Timo Werner’s loan spell at the club by a further 12 months.

It was announced on Tuesday that Spurs had struck a deal with RB Leipzig to extend Werner’s stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the duration of the 2024/25 campaign.
The news has received a mixed response from Spurs fans on social media but Gold explained that internally at the North London club, the move is viewed as an ‘astute piece of business’.
The journalist claimed that the German was keen to remain at Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou has enjoyed working with him, with the Spurs boss seeing the 28-year-old’s return as a move that would bolster his options upfront without eating into his summer transfer budget.

Spurs tipped to make further attacking signings
Gold made it clear that Werner will not be the only forward that Tottenham sign this summer, with the player being seen as a replacement for the recently departed Ivan Perisic and Bryan Gil, who is also expected to head out of the door.
The journalist states that Postecoglou wants ‘a number of attacking signings’ this window as he looks to build a squad which can compete on multiple fronts next season having secured a return to European football with Europa League qualification.
Among the attacking additions that Spurs are targeting, a new number nine is said to be ‘high on the priority list’ for the Lilywhites.

Spurs Web Opinion
I do not get the discontent among some fans about the Werner signing. His wages might be on the higher end but given that there is no loan fee involved, I do not see any downsides.
The German is not going to be a regular starter unless he really impresses and he is a very useful option to bring on from the bench against tired legs late on in matches.
