Alasdair Gold reveals teenager travelled with Spurs squad to Burnley and Leeds as spare man

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham academy goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala travelled with the Spurs squad for their away trips to Burnley and Leeds.

Antonio Conte was without some key first-team players for Tottenham’s trip to Elland Road and named four academy players on the bench in Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine, Harvey White, and Brandon Austin.

Scarlett even came off the bench for a late cameo in the 87th minute, with the result already done and dusted at that stage.

Among the four youngsters who made the bench, perhaps it was Austin’s inclusion that was the most surprising, with Pierluigi Gollini not being named among the substitutes.

Gold has now revealed that Gollini has missed the trips to Turf Moor and Elland Road through illness, which is why Austin made the bench.

He also revealed that Gollini’s absence gave Lo-Tutala opportunities to travel with the first team as the third goalkeeper.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “Gollini was still ill so Austin was on the bench, and Lo-Tutala – who’s only 19 – very exciting for him, last two games he’s been the third goalkeeper, so that’s a massive experience for him.”

It would be a shame if Gollini does not recover from his illness before the FA Cup clash against Boro as Conte might have given the Italian a rare opportunity to start if he was available.

Gollini has not exactly covered himself in glory when opportunities have come his way this season but the Italian has been a great addition to the dressing room and he deserves to feel like he is part of the setup.
