Alasdair Gold reveals that Spurs are ‘continuing to monitor’ PL attacker

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to monitor Everton winger Anthony Gordon with a little over a week left in the transfer window.

Tottenham’s efforts to sign Gordon back in June were knocked back by Everton (Lyall Thomas) while the Toffees are also thought to have rejected a £40m offer from Chelsea for the winger last week (Sky Sports).

Antonio Conte confirmed on Saturday that Spurs will look to make another attacking addition before the transfer window closes if Bryan Gil departs the club (Football.London).

Gold has now revealed that Gordon is one of the options on the North London club’s radar but, as things stand, Chelsea are leading the race for the winger.

The journalist adds that the 21-year-old is interested in joining Tottenham and working under Antonio Conte but he will not push for a move away from his boyhood club.

Gold states that while Frank Lampard’s men were reluctant to let Gordon leave earlier in the transfer window, they now need to raise funds in order to make any more signings.

It is asserted that apart from Spurs and Chelsea, Newcastle United and Manchester United are also tracking the Everton academy graduate.

A move for Gordan would make sense, given our issues in fulfilling the homegrown criteria. However, it will likely prove a tricky deal to do, even if Everton are open to selling, given the competition that Spurs would face. As things stand, Malinovskyi appears to be the more likely candidate to replace Gil.
