Alasdair Gold reveals the feeling among some within Spurs over Dele’s future

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has hinted that Dele Alli could end up staying at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the January transfer window.

There has been plenty of speculation about Alli’s future over the past couple of months, with reports indicating that the midfielder is looking for an exit route out of Spurs after falling down Jose Mourinho’s pecking order (Daily Mail).

The Athletic’s David Ornstein suggested last month that while Mourinho does not see Alli as part of his plans, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would be reluctant to sell him (Ask Ornstein podcast).

Gold has now echoed a similar sentiment by claiming that some within the club do not want to give up on Alli and are hoping that he can somehow find his best form again.

He suggests that there is still a belief that the 24-year-old could undergo a similar transformation to the one Tanguy Ndombele has this season and force himself back into Mourinho’s plans.

Additionally, the journalist also suggests that Tottenham are unlikely to agree on a loan deal for such a high-profile player like Alli, while no club is likely to be in a position to meet Spurs’ asking price for the midfielder, given that he still has four years left on his contract.
