Alasdair Gold reveals there is ‘no chance’ Spurs will let midfielder leave next month

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that there is ‘no chance’ of Tottenham Hotspur selling or sending Harry Winks out on loan during the January transfer window as things currently stand.

Winks has had to be content with getting minutes in the Europa League for the past two months, having not featured in the Premier League since Tottenham’s 3-3 draw against West Ham back in October.

The Telegraph has claimed that the midfielder is considering holding talks with Daniel Levy about his future and wants to leave on loan so that he can play regularly ahead of the European Championships next summer.

However, Gold claims that the club are not prepared to let the midfielder head out of the door next month as it could potentially leave them short of options in midfield in the event of injuries.

The journalist claims that those at the club believe that the England international will get opportunities to stake his claim in the second half of the season.

Gold suggests that Dele Alli’s situation is different to Winks’, with Tottenham prepared to hold discussions over a loan move for the former MK Dons man.

Selling or loaning out Winks will not make any sense unless we are to bring in another central midfielder in January. However, it seems pretty clear by now that Dele is not in Jose’s plans and is unlikely to get a look in even if we have a few injuries. I cannot see any club being in a position to pay Levy’s asking price for Alli, which is why a loan move is looking increasingly likely.
