Alasdair Gold reveals Tottenham’s priorities in January transfer window

Football.London have revealed that the two priority signings for Antonio Conte in January are an attacking player and a right wing-back.

Journalist Alasdair Gold explained that Tottenham’s objective during the summer transfer window was to add both quality and quantity to the squad, given the low number of players at Conte’s disposal.

The priority next month is expected to be purely about finding quality additions while maintaining the current size of the squad. It is explained that the Italian is keen on signing another attacking player due to Lucas Moura’s injury problems and Bryan Gil is expected to be loaned out next month.

Gold adds that Tottenham want to keep Conte happy and are likely to look for both permanent and loan solutions for the two areas that the 53-year-old is keen to be strengthened while suggesting that Spurs could make one permanent signing and complete one loan-to-buy deal similar to the moves for Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski.

It is also said that Conte is reluctant to use untested players and Fabio Paratici is looking for ready-made alternatives to hit the ground running next month.

If Tottenham are only going to sign one attacking player in January, it would likely be in the club’s interest to sign a player of the profile of Nicolo Zaniolo or Ruslan Malinovsyi, who can be deployed as an attacking midfielder in a 3-5-2 while also being able to operate as a wide-forward in a 3-4-3.
