Alasdair Gold reveals what Fabio Paratici is planning to do over ‘coming weeks’

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Fabio Paratici is planning to appoint his number two over the coming weeks.

Steve Hitchen, who was previously in a similar role, resigned from his position as technical performance director at the start of February.

Ahead of what looks set to be one of Tottenham’s busiest transfer windows in recent seasons, Paratici is going to get all the help he can get to identify and sign the right players.

Gold has now explained that the Spurs managing director will start by appointing his number two and has been overhauling the club’s scouting network, which he expects to start bearing fruit.

The journalist adds that those inside the club are ‘excited’ about what the summer could bring ahead of Antonio Conte’s first pre-season.

Gold states there is a desire to get new faces through the door in time to take part in pre-season while the club are also ready to soften their stance on signing young players if the right kind of experienced stars become available.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is far more important to identify the right kind of targets this summer rather than just spending a lot of money.

Our biggest transfer window in terms of money spent (summer of 2019) also proved to be one of our poorest, with the likes of Ndombele, Clarke and Lo Celso not having the expected impact.

However, the fact that Romero, Bentancur and Kulusevski have all done exceedingly well, gives me hope that Conte and Paratici can be trusted to make the right sort of singings this summer.

The club’s biggest challenge could be in finding buyers for our fringe players, and I would expect Paratici to potentially explore swap deals once again.
