Alasdair Gold reveals what Harry Kane’s camp have said about new contract

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that those within Harry Kane’s camp say talks have not begun with Tottenham regarding a new contract.

After a lacklustre start to the season, Kane now seems to have found his goal-scoring boots, having scored three in his last three.

The Athletic reported over the weekend that the England captain is loving working under Antonio Conte and feels fitter than he thought possible in such a short span of time.

The report suggested that a contract could be in the offing for the 28-year-old if Tottenham continue to progress under the Italian.

Gold has now backed up the claim regarding Kane’s rejuvenation under Conte, with the journalist revealing that the 52-year-old has ‘reignited’ the striker’s ‘passion’.

However, Gold added that both Kane’s camp and those at Tottenham claim discussions have not begun over a new deal for the moment.

Gold also suggested the ambition that Spurs show in the January transfer window could help to make up Kane’s mind on whether he wants to commit his future to the club.

I expect Spurs to offer Kane a new contract over the coming months. Unless the striker signs a new deal before the summer, the North Londoners would probably want to cash in on him and reinvest the funds into the squad.

With Kane having two and a half years left on his deal, the Spurs hierarchy will know that next summer is the last window where they can get a sizeable offer for the striker.
