Alasdair Gold reveals what he knows about Spurs interest in Dan James

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that while Tottenham do hold an interest in Daniel James, the club have not made a move for the Leeds United winger so far.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday that Tottenham are eyeing James as a potential replacement for Bryan Gil, who is expected to join Valencia on loan.

Gold has now confirmed that the Leeds star is on Tottenham’s radar but added that the former Manchester United man is just ‘one of the many potential options’ Spurs are considering to replace Gil.

Gold added that while Fabio Paratici is a fan of the Wales international, Tottenham have not taken their interest beyond the point of consideration and have not held any discussions with the player’s entourage.

The journalist further explained that James would not be considered homegrown in the Champions League as he spent his formative years at Swansea, with the Welsh club not considered to be part of the English national association by UEFA.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can see why Conte might view James as a useful option from the bench against tired legs. I would certainly take him as a replacement for Gil. However, I do not see why the 24-year-old would want to accept a bit-part role at Spurs when he is getting regular minutes at Leeds.
