Alasdair Gold reveals what inside source told him about Spurs manager chase

Football.London’s Alastair Gold has revealed that a source from inside Tottenham told him that the club ‘chased dreams’ in their managerial pursuit after Jose Mourinho’s sacking.

It has been two months since Mourinho’s departure from Tottenham and the club are yet to confirm his replacement.

While former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca is now rumoured to be close to being appointed, the 48-year-old was evidently not the club’s first choice.

Tottenham were turned down by both Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers, before seeing their attempts to bring Mauricio Pochettino back fail as Paris Saint-Germain stood firm.

However, it was the public manner in which the talks with Antonio Conte played out before the club decided to call them off, that has particularly irked some Spurs fans.

Gold has explained that Fonseca’s camp believe that a deal is now close to being agreed.

It looks like the way in which Spurs have gone about their managerial search has not only gone down badly with the fans but also some at the club too, as Gold revealed that a person inside Spurs was critical of how the hierarchy had “chased dreams”.
