Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that he finds Antonio Conte’s answers in press conferences to be a lot more revealing than some of his predecessors.
Being a regular in Tottenham’s press conferences over several years, Gold is better equipped than most to comment about how different managers handled the media.
The journalist has now said that he finds Conte’s answers to his questions to be ‘fascinating’ and quite insightful.
He contrasted that with Nuno Espirito Santo, who the journalist suggested did not enjoy press conferences and was often unimpressed with the questions that were put to him.
Gold added that he found Jose Mourinho to be quite fun, insisting that the Portuguese coach conveyed exactly what he wanted to without much repetition, irrespective of whether he was talking about individuals or the club.
He pointed out that Mauricio Pochettino was the polar opposite to Mourinho, often giving long-winded answers and repeating himself quite regularly.
The journalist explained that the Argentine did this to make sure everyone understood what he meant.
As a result, Pochettino’s press conferences often took longer than 40-45 minutes including the broadcast and written section.

There are certainly some similarities between the way Conte and Mourinho handle the media. While Conte too is quite concise with his answers, the Italian seems to be much calmer than the Portuguese and more in control of his emotions.
