Alasdair Gold reveals what Spurs will now prioritise after Romero signing

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now prioritising further defensive recruits after completing the signing of Cristian Romero.

Tottenham have been locked in negotiations with Atalanta over Romero for several weeks but the North Londoners finally confirmed the Argentine’s capture on Friday.

The centre-back’s additional comes as a welcome boost to Spurs’ backline following Toby Alderweireld’s departure last month.

Davinson Sanchez is expected to follow the Belgian out of the door this summer while some rumours have suggested that Japhet Tanganga could be loaned out.

Gold has now revealed that Fabio Paratici has set his sights on signing another centre-back and a right-back before looking to strengthen the forward areas.

When asked by a Spurs fan in a Q & A by Football.London what the club’s next move will be following Romero’s capture, he responded: “As I understand it, the priority next, after Romero, is another centre-back and then a right-back before looking further up the pitch.”

Responding to another question about potential departures, Gold also confirmed that Tanganga is yet to decide whether he wants to stay or head out on loan.

The journalist also added that Spurs are looking to find buyers for Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko.

If we keep Kane, and sign another decent centre-back, right-back and a backup striker, our squad will be in pretty decent shape going into the season.

Skipp will also be like a new signing and the early signs are that Nuno trusts the youngster to partner Hojbjerg in midfield.
