Alasdair Gold reveals whether Lautaro Martinez is keen on Spurs move

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed Lautaro Martinez is keen on completing a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer but insisted the North London club are not hopeful of landing the Argentine.

Reports first emerged on Sunday that Spurs had agreed on a fee with Inter for Martinez and the news certainly sent some Tottenham fans on social media into a frenzy.

However, Inter have since denied that any fee has been agreed for the striker while Martinez’s agent has also admitted the striker is happy to stay at the San Siro.

Alasdair Gold has shed more light on Tottenham’s pursuit of the 23-year-old by revealing the Lilywhites had initially agreed on a figure of more than €60m (£50.9m) for the Argentine, which included numerous bonuses for the Italian club.

However, he explains this was before Chelsea accelerated their attempts to get Romelu Lukaku, who is now said to be close to a £100m move to Stamford Bridge.

With the money from Lukaku’s sale having temporarily eased Inter’s financial problems, the club are said to have reconsidered their stance on selling Martinez.

However, the striker is thought to be keen on uniting with his international teammates, Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso, at Spurs.

Gold adds that the situation now rests with Inter, with Tottenham not hopeful they will get their man amidst Lukaku’s impending arrival at Chelsea.

With Inter being linked strongly with moves for Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata and Roma’s Edin Dzeko, one would hope that they would cash in on Martinez if they get both those deals over the line.

While the fact that the 23-year-old wants to join Tottenham is a huge plus, Spurs fans should not be getting their hopes up regarding this potential transfer.
