Alasdair Gold reveals whether Tottenham are looking at Clement Lenglet loan deal

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Clement Lenglet after failing with an approach for the Barcelona star in January.

This comes after Esport3 reported that Barcelona were working on a potential two-year loan for Lenglet to join Conte at Spurs.

Gold stated that Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni and RB Leipzig’s Joko Gvardiol are Tottenham’s top two targets for the left centre-back role but adds that a deal for either player will be difficult to pull off.

The journalist added that Lenglet and Villarreal’s Pau Torres are two other options on Tottenham’s radar.

He revealed that Spurs tried to sign Lenglet on loan during the January transfer window but the centre-back was not keen to leave Camp Nou at the time.

However, Barcelona are now expected to move several of their fringe players on, owing to their financial issues, with the Catalan club ready to make the Frenchman available on loan.

Gold explained that Spurs could look to sign Lenglet on loan as that would help utilize their transfer funds to strengthen other areas of the team.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not convinced Lenglet will improve our starting eleven, given the 26-year-old’s struggles over the last couple of years. Perhaps Conte thinks the Frenchman will be a better fit for a back three than a back four. If it is a loan move, there will not be much risk involved.
