Alasdair Gold reveals who is Fabio Paratici’s top target to become new Spurs head coach

Numerous reports have emerged this evening to reveal that Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks with Paulo Fonseca over the vacant head coach role in North London.

Alasdair Gold has revealed that he has been told that Fonseca has been identified as Fabio Paratici’s top candidate to take over and stressed that a deal has not been reached as of yet.

Fonseca left Roma at the end of last season and was replaced by former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

The 48-year-old started his managerial career in Portugal and went on to make his name at Shakhtar Donetsk where he spent three years and he won the Ukrainian top-flight every season.

Having been appointed at Roma, he led them to a fifth place finish in the 2019/20 campaign and could only muster seventh in the Serie A table last season.

Talks with Antonio Conte collapsed last week, while Spurs were unsuccessful in their attempt to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to the club from Paris Saint-Germain.
