Alasdair Gold reveals why Dier was fuming at Son during FA Cup defeat

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Eric Dier was fuming at Son Heung-min for the part he played in a chance Middlesbrough created in the second half on Tuesday.

It proved to be a hugely frustrating night for Tottenham, who slipped to a 1-0 loss at the Riverside Stadium, with Boro sealing a place in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup at the North Londoners’ expense.

Boro’s winner came in the second half of extra time through Josh Coburn but the home side did have opportunities to score before that.

One of those chances, which fell to Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun, came as a result of Son losing the ball in the middle of the park, allowing Chris Wilder’s men to break on Spurs.

Gold revealed that after Balogun curled his effort over the bar, Dier immediately rushed to have a go at Son, who felt he should had a free-kick on the halfway line.

According to the journalist, the Spurs centre-backs was not at all happy with the South Korean.

Both Kane and Son were extremely poor yesterday and looked to be lacking in sharpness.

Boro did not give the South Korean much space to run in behind the backline but I expected more from him on the ball. He also missed a couple of good chances to give us the lead.

Chris Wilder’s men showed that it is pretty easy to shut us down when Kane and Son are not at their best.
