Alasdair Gold reveals why Spurs may miss out on Marcel Sabitzer

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Spurs may soon find themselves out of the running for Austrian sensation, Marcel Sabtizer this summer due to an emphasis on defence in the transfer market.

The Football London journalist claimed that Spurs previously held a strong interest in the RB Leipzig man, particularly with a spot on the right-side of attack opening up.

However, with Sabtizer in the final year of his contract, many teams chasing his signature and Spurs putting all initial funds into defenders, Gold said that Spurs may miss out on the midfielder.

Gold previously reported that he expected the North London club to compete for Sabtizer this summer, claiming that Spurs had watched him across multiple seasons.

The Athletic reported recently that Sabitzer could be available for just £15m this summer due to there being just one year left on his contract.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tottenham will prioritise defenders but, at the same time, if there is a bargain like Sabitzer going for £15m, they will not pass up on that opportunity. However, I would expect the Austrian to go for more like £25m, so we shall see whether Spurs remain interested.
