Alasdair Gold says one Spurs midfielder wants to stay and fight for his place

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has said that Oliver Skipp is keen to stay at Tottenham Hotspur and fight for his place in the side rather than leaving on loan this month.

Skipp has struggled to get starts under Ange Postecoglou this season, having started just twice in the Premier League this season, although he has come on as a substitute on 12 occasions (Transfermarkt).

Over the last couple of weeks, some outlets have suggested that the Tottenham academy graduate could be on his way out of the club during the current transfer window (The Telegraph).

Skipp wants to stay at Tottenham and compete

However, Gold has now revealed that the 23-year-old does not want to make a temporary move and would prefer to fight for a place at his boyhood club.

The journalist says that as things stand, Tottenham are not planning on offloading Skipp but he adds that the club could change their stance on the youngster next summer.

Finally, Gold backs up what we have heard from other sources over recent weeks by stating that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the midfielder who is most likely to depart Spurs this month but only if the Lilywhites can bring in a suitable replacement first.

With Postecoglou being without both Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr for the next few weeks, there is no reason for the Australian to consider loaning out Skipp. It is quite clear that Hojbjerg is the player Tottenham are willing to sacrifice in order to bring a number eight through the door this month.
