Alasdair Gold shares his understanding of the Ousmane Dembele to Spurs speculation

Alasdair Gold has shared his understanding of fresh speculation linking Tottenham Hotspur with a late move for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.

The French international was told by the Catalan giants that he should look for a club as soon as possible during the current transfer window after the La Liga outfit grew tired of his reluctance to sign a new contract (Daily Mail).

Dembele is out of contract at the Camp Nou in the summer and was said to have demanded a salary package worth up to €80million (£66.9m) to put pen to paper.

Mundo Deportivo claimed earlier this evening that Dembele was a ‘serious option’ for Tottenham who are in the market for a winger after allowing Bryan Gil to join Valencia for the remainder of the campaign.

Gold, writing in his column for Football.London poured cold water on the speculation with his understanding that while the 24-year-old had been offered to the club, the north Londoners have no interest in signing him at this stage.

Barcelona appear desperate to get rid of Dembele before the window closes, knowing fully well this is their last opportunity to recoup a fee before the winger walks away in the summer.
