Alasdair Gold has taken to Twitter this evening to give his reaction to the latest developments in Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new head coach.
The journalist claimed yesterday that Mauricio Pochettino had told Paris Saint-Germain that he wanted to leave the club in order to complete a return to Tottenham with the Argentine showing a desire to continue his project in North London.
Earlier today, news broke that Antonio Conte had emerged as Tottenham’s leading candidate to replace Jose Mourinho with talks said to be at an advanced stage (Goal).
Gold has now admitted that Conte looks likely to become the next boss of Spurs with PSG having rejected the club’s attempt to bring Pochettino back to the Premier League.
While admitting that Conte is one of the top managers in the world, he did admit that it will be interesting to see how the Italian copes when he is likely to not receive financial backing to the levels he has been used to at Chelsea and Inter Milan.
He also revealed that the appointment of Fabio Paratici as sporting director is looking likely.

Conte suddenly becoming a free agent made him a very attractive prospect for Levy, but if he puts pen to paper as expected it’ll be intriguing to see how the two men gel, whether he fits that Levy DNA statement and whether he can settle at Spurs for longer than elsewhere. (Contd)
