Alasdair Gold suggests it ‘looks likely’ player will leave Spurs in January under one condition

Alasdair Gold expects Djed Spence to be loaned out by Tottenham if the North London club get the Pedro Porro deal over the line.

There have seemingly been some encouraging developments regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Porro over recent days, with reports indicating that Sporting Lisbon have relaxed some of their demands (Daily Mail).

Journalist Nicolo Schira even revealed on Tuesday that Spurs were in the ‘final stages’ of agreeing on a deal for the 23-year-old. Fabrizio Romano also claimed on Twitter that there is growing optimism a deal will be reached between Spurs and Sporting.

It was previously reported that Emerson Royal was the player who was likely to leave this window if the North London club managed to sign another right wing-back (Inter Live).

However, on the back of the Brazilian’s impressive showings against Manchester City and Fulham, that now looks an increasingly unlikely possibility.

Gold has now said that it would be a ‘no brainer’ for Spurs to loan out Spence if Porro arrives through the door.

When asked if the former Middlesbrough man will leave on loan, the journalist responded in a Q&A on Football.London: “It looks likely with the player needing minutes and Bayer Leverkusen, Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham all having registered an interest among others in the 22-year-old.

“If Spurs can get the Pedro Porro deal over the line then it makes it even more of a no-brainer.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Conte trusts Emerson a lot more than he does Spence and it would be irresponsible of Tottenham not to loan out the England Under-21 international this window, given that he is clearly not likely to feature.

I wonder if Spence is the player Spurs have potentially offered to Sporting on loan as part of the Porro deal. I would personally like to see the 22-year-old being loaned out to a Premier League club rather than abroad.
