Alasdair Gold talks about Weston McKennie links and Oliver Skipp loan potential

Football London journalist, Alasdair Gold has been speaking about potential midfield incomings for Tottenham Hotspur this week, amidst the consistent links with Juventus’ Weston McKennie.

Gold confirmed that Fabio Paratici ‘absolutely adores’ the USA international, but hopes it will not mean a limitation in game time for Oliver Skipp now that he is back from injury.

Tottenham already boast a lot of depth in central midfield, with Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Yves Bissouma, and Oliver Skipp, as well as youngsters Pape Matar Sarr and Harvey White.

It has been reported by Calciomercato, Ben Jacobs, and La Repubblica recently that Tottenham are seriously interested in the out-of-favour Juventus man, although the latter claim Daniel Levy and co are unwilling to break the bank for him.

Alasdair Gold has now highlighted his worries about Oliver Skipp potentially being loaned out to a Premier League side for regular game time if a McKennie-like player comes in.

He said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “I hope someone like Oliver Skipp doesn’t have to be loaned out and that he will get opportunities, but you see the links with Weston McKennie and he’s someone that Paratici absolutely adores, so it does worry me that someone comes in and then there’s no room and you send Skipp out to a Premier League team, which would be such a shame.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I completely agree with Alasdair here, it would be a shame if Skipp had to make way for a new midfielder. However, I would much rather Skipp be loaned out and play 20 back-to-back games for a Premier League side than be reduced to cameos this season at Tottenham. He is too good for that.
