Alasdair Gold thinks linked-away Spurs player ‘really wants to fight for his place’ under Postecoglou

Alasdair Gold has said even though Bryan Gil wants to fight for his future at Tottenham Hotspur, the winger might be offloaded this season.

Despite the numerous injuries Tottenham have had upfront over the last couple of months, Gil has found starts hard to come by.

Following the arrival of Timo Werner and with Manor Solomon now thought to be close to full fitness (Telegraph), the Spaniard’s game time is likely to diminish even further over the coming months.

That is perhaps the 22-year-old, who has had loan spells at Valencia and Sevilla over the last two years, continues to be linked with a move away from the North London side.

In fact, Vamos Mi Sevilla even suggested a few days ago that Tottenham would be open to cashing in on the Spain international for a fee of €7m-€8m (£6m-£6.8m), with Quique Sanchez Flores’ men alleged to be keen on bringing him back to Andalusia.

Bryan Gil is ready to fight for his place at Tottenham

Gold has now revealed that he is hearing that the winger is willing to remain at Hotspur Way and fight for a place in Ange Postecoglou’s side, but he suggested that the player could still be on his way out of the door.

The journalist said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “Yeah, to be fair to Bryan Gil, everything that is coming out around the player seems to be that he really wants to fight for his place at Spurs, there have been some suggestions that he could be heading off, that could still be the case, but if he goes it won’t be for the lack of trying.”

Perhaps Gil feels that Postecoglou’s approach suits him and wants to have a fair crack at trying to force himself into the Australian’s plans. However, it is difficult to see the winger getting any starts unless there is another injury crisis at Spurs.
